On the 28th of January the Andersen Chair UPV, organized the day“The future of electricity networks: regulation, investment and climate adaptation”.The event will be a meeting place to analyze the main challenges of the electricity sector at a time of profound transformation.
The institutional opening was given by José E. Capella, Rector Magnificent of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), who emphasized that electric networks are going through a process of profound transformation in which it is essential to advance in a balanced way in regulation, investment and innovation to ensure the security and sustainability of the system. Virginia Vega, director of the Andersen Chair UPV, emphasized the vocation of the Chair as a space for rigorous analysis and multidisciplinary dialogue, aimed at generating useful knowledge and contributing to legal certainty and the transformation of the energy sector.
During the day, experts from different fields explored the need for clear and stable regulatory frameworks that encourage investment in grid infrastructure, essential to sustain the electrification of the economy and respond to the growing demand from industry and farms. Digitalization, technological innovation and resilience in the face of climate change were identified as key elements to improve the efficiency and robustness of the electricity system, ensuring a secure and sustainable supply.
The event also provided an opportunity to reflect on the importance of long-term strategic planning that integrates the different energy sources and takes advantage of the opportunities presented by the energy transition, reinforcing the competitiveness of the sector and the country’s energy autonomy.
With this conference, the Andersen UPV Chair reaffirms its commitment to rigorous and multidisciplinary analysis of sustainability and regulated markets, promoting dialogue between academia, business and institutions to promote the transformation of the electricity sector in Spain.
