The Universitat Politècnica de València, the first Spanish public university to obtain 5 Stars in the QS 5-Star rating system

[ 27/07/2022 ]

The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is a 5-star university. This has been certified by QS Stars, the official university rating system of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the British company responsible for one of the world's three most prestigious higher education rankings. This way, the UPV becomes the first Spanish public university to obtain this certification.

After providing all the required documentation in a process initiated in October 2021, QS Stars has rated the UPV with 5 stars in all the categories analysed -Teaching, Employability, Internationalisation, Research, Facilities, Specialist Criteria (in this case, Civil and Structural Engineering), Social Responsibility-, as well as in the Overall rating.

The certification, valid for three years, will be effective until 1 July 2025.

The highest possible score is in employability and 24 of the 36 indicators analysed.

In its assessment, QS gave the UPV the highest score in employability (150 points out of a possible 150) and a total of 24 of the 36 indicators analysed.

These include, for example, satisfaction with teaching, academic reputation, graduate employment rate, international collaborations, exchange students, papers per faculty, citations per paper, sports facilities, campus, medical services, accreditations, climate action plan, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability networks.

Endorsed by all top international rankings

In addition to the QS recognition, the other two main international rankings in the field, ARWU (popularly known as the Shanghai ranking) and THE, also endorse the UPV's teaching quality.

Not surprisingly, in its most recent edition, Times Higher Education (THE) recognises the UPV as one of the 300 universities with the biggest social and economic impact in the world and includes it in the top 100 in educational quality, innovation and infrastructures, and responsible production and consumption.

Likewise, ARWU, considered the most prestigious international ranking of universities, highlights the UPV as the best polytechnic in Spain and includes it, for the 17th consecutive year, in its global ranking of the 500 most important universities in the world.
