Triple E Awards

The UPV is internationally recognised as the second-best entrepreneurial university in Europe

[ 30/06/2022 ]

The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is the second-best entrepreneurial university in Europe. This was recognised last night at the Triple E Awards gala organised in Florence (Italy) by the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities (ACEEU).

In front of representatives of the 60 finalists - 5 for each of the 12 categories - the jury valued the UPV's capacity "to transform ideas into start-ups". It awarded it the second prize in the main category of the competition, only behind the winner, the University of Wales, and ahead of the other Spanish finalist in the category, the IESE Business School, which completed the podium in third place.

In addition to the award above for the UPV, it is also worth adding the first prize of the public, which considered the UPV the most entrepreneurial university in Europe.

A new endorsement for UPV's firm commitment to entrepreneurship

"These awards," said the Vice-Rector for Students and Entrepreneurship at the UPV, Esther Gómez, "endorse the firm commitment that, from the UPV, we make to entrepreneurship, the training of leaders and the promotion of student talent. It also reaffirms the need to continue transferring ideas, innovation, and new technologies to society by creating start-ups and spin-offs".

María Márquez, director of the IDEAS UPV Entrepreneurship Area, and Israel Griol, senior technician of the StartUPV entrepreneurial ecosystem, which incubates and accelerates start-ups created by UPV students and graduates of the institution currently directed by José E. Capilla, collected the award together with the vice-Rector. Interestingly, it so happens that both the IDEAS UPV Programme and the StartUPV ecosystem are celebrating their 30th and 10th anniversaries, respectively.

The awards also recognise all the other initiatives that the UPV carries out in the field of entrepreneurship, such as competitions, prizes, training sessions and the creation and support of Spontaneous Generation groups, among many other actions.

Triple E Awards

The ACEEU Triple E Awards globally recognise entrepreneurship, innovation, and social engagement in higher education. Its main objective is to foster change in universities and emphasise their role in their communities and ecosystems through knowledge transfer.

Founded in 2016 as part of the University-Industry Innovation Network (UIIN) in Amsterdam (The Netherlands), the ACEEU, currently based in Münster (Germany), is an international reference in the promotion and advancement of initiatives that connect university education with the business world.
