The Polytechnic University of Valencia trains people to develop their skills; it researches and generates knowledge, with quality, precision and ethics, in the fields of science, technology, art, and business, with the objective to promote an all-round development of the society, as well as to contribute to its technological, economic, and cultural progress.

The Polytechnic University of Valencia aims to be a modern, innovative, and efficient institution, which, as a public university, is noted for its commitments to matters of social responsibility among other things, and more specifically, to environmental sustainability, being recognised as one of Europe's leading universities in this field.

As a higher education institution, it aims to promote among all members of the university community, employees, and students, a sense of responsibility for both conservation and improvement of the environment, being aware of its exceptional responsibility in the transformation of society through training, by contributing to the transmission of environmental values.

For this purpose, the Polytechnic University of Valencia makes the following commitments:

  • To know, assess, and Minimize any environmental impacts derived from its activities, in order to control, prevent, and reduce the adverse effects, and to promote and disseminate the positive ones..
  • To meet any environmental legal requirements and any other requirements concerning environmental matters applicable to the University.
  • To foster environmental training appropriate for all students.
  • To inform and train all members of the university community, raising the level of environmental awareness.
  • To constantly improve environmental management systems so as to optimize the environmental performance of the University.
  • To help improvement of environmental actions for those persons from outside the University to carry out their activities in offices or centres belonging to the university, as well as other public and private entities.

As an instrument to achieve these goals, the UPV is committed to maintaining its environmental management system homologated to Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and the UNE EN ISO 14001 regulation; and consequently, to establish demanding environmental objectives, accessible to the public, by constantly monitoring progress and drawing up annual public environmental statements, which will be disseminated both within the University and to society in general.
