10:00-12:00 Automatic terminology detection: New principles and tools (Teresa Cabré y Rogelio Nazar)
This workshop describes the methodology used in the terminographical studies carried out in the University Institute of Applied Linguistics at the Universidad Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona. This research work involves the identification, collection and organization of terminological units using a corpus and terminology management platform called TERMINUS.
1. Traditional terminology versus present-day terminology
2. Terminological research work using computer tools: from terminological management systems to banks of knowledge.
3. Creating work platforms.
4. Details and innovations in terminographical processes:
a. Compiling specialized corpora.
b. Corpus exploitation for terminological purposes.
c. Information structuring: Taxonomies and ontologies
5. Presentation of the TERMINUS tool: New versions and present projects.

16:00-18:00 Wordsmith 1 (Mike Scott)
The aim of this workshop will be for participants to get familiar with features of WordSmith Tools version 6.0. The workshop begins with a quick run through the basics of WordSmith: making a word list, generating a concordance and computing key words, but then new features of WordSmith 6.0 will be examined. There will be plenty of opportunity to get hands-on experience with this software.

18:15-19:30 Wordsmith 2 (Mike Scott)
Individual or pair experimentation with the Wordsmith features, with periodic guidance and discussion.

 19:30-20:00 END OF WORKSHOP
