Master's Degree in Agricultural Engineering


Introduction

Food production and processing accounts for over 20% of Spanish GDP, and environmental issues are a growing concern for society and a significant focus of professional conduct.

The Polytechnic University of Valencia Master's Degree in Agricultural Engineering consists of 102 ECTS (two academic years), with a core component of 60 ECTS and specialisation in plant production, animal production, agrifood industry, rural engineering, biotechnology, food economy for development and natural resources and the environment.


Objectives

Acquire the skills necessary to pursue the regulated profession of agricultural engineer. Employment opportunities include consultancy and management of agricultural and livestock farms, the food industry, facility design engineering, landscaping and environmental practice, cooperatives and research. The former degree in Agricultural Engineering, to which this master's degree corresponds, is accredited by the American organisation ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) at master degree level for American and European universities, an important qualification when seeking employment within or outside Spain.


Admission criteria

Eligible students must hold a bachelor's degree. The degree of reference for acceptance on the course is the UPV Bachelor's Degree in Rural and Agrifood Engineering. Other degree courses are accepted although individual cases will be reviewed to determine what additional studies are required to meet the admission criteria, depending on the origin of the student.
