ARWU 2019

The Shanghai Ranking reaffirmes the Universitat Politècnica de València as the best Spanish polytechnic university

[ 15/08/2019 ]

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2019, popularly known as the Shanghai Ranking and internationally recognized as the most prestigious world university indicator due to the objectivity of its methodology, today has reaffirmed the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) as the best Spanish polytechnic university.

This ranking, prepared by Jiao Tong University of Shanghai, has supported the good work of the institution led by Francisco Mora, and maintains the high international status of UPV, especially in the fields of Engineering and Sciences.

In fact, UPV is the only Spanish polytechnic university in the top 500 of the ranking, which classifies the best universities in the world, led, in the following order, by Harvard, Stanford and Cambridge.

15 years in a row on the top 500 of the world best universities

It is important to note that ARWU, the first world university classification published (the first edition was held in 2003), placed UPV for fifth year in a row among the 500 highest quality universities in the world, where there are more than 20,000 high education centers.

UPV, internationally recognized by all top-level rankings

Apart from ARWU 2019, the other two main university rankings in the world, QS and THE, also attested to the educational level of UPV. Last June, the QS World University Rankings, prepared by the consultancy firm Quacquarelli Symonds, placed UPV for second year in a row, among the 350 best universities in the world.

Two weeks later, the Times Higher Education (THE) journal chose UPV as one of the best 75 universities in Europe in the field of teaching, providing the Valencian university its best position in history.
