Trimester on Functional Analysis, Complex Analysis and Operator Theory

The "i-Math Consolider Trimester on Functional Analysis, Complex Analysis and Operator Theory (PMII-C6-0376)" will be held in the Instituto Universitario de Matemática Pura y Aplicada of the Universitat Politècnica de València (València, Spain) from the 15th of January until the 15th of April, 2011. Functional analysis, complex analysis and operator theory are interrelated research areas in which Spain is particularly strong, as can be seen by the high number and quality of the research publications and by the number of Spanish research groups. Our aim is to use the proposed activity to strengthen the leadership of Spain at an international level. The idea is to bring together internationally renowned experts in these three areas together with young researchers to collaborate during three months in research problems and open new interdisciplinary directions of research. The international experts will give introductory courses which will give the opportunity to Spanish young and senior mathematicians to learn recent major developments. The high quality of our carefully selected participants in this activity will certainly contribute in the mathematical knowledge of the Spanish young researchers and in their future PhD theses. The Trimester will consist of:

* eleven mini-workshops, consisting of 2 or 3 lectures of one hour each,

* between six and ten seminars, of one hour and

* a colloquium.

The Trimester will finish with a Meeting that will be held in Alcoi from the 13th to the 15th of April, 2011.
