Let me take you down to

Why?
Because Penny Lane is one of the most famous beatles songs. Since the song was written by Paul, it has become with Abbey Road one of the most famous streets of all time. Because many of the places the song describe are actually still there
Where?
Penny Lane is located in Liverpool, but quite ar from the centre, near where John and Paul lived. If I have to be true, I don't know if it's easy or not to get there, I was driven there by a local. But here is the timetable from Paradise Street station to get to Penny Lane.

What You Should Know
  • Most of the things that are mentioned in the song (the barber shop, the bank, the shelter in the middle of the roundabout) ARE NOT strictly in Penny Lane. They're at its junction with Smithdowmn Road.
  • The shelter is now the Sgt. Pepper Bistro, and the barber shop is now a unisex salon.
  • The picture you can see, in one of two street level signs was taken at the other end of Penny Lane, just in case you want to walk down there.
Miscellanea
Penny Lane was known to Liverpool residents as a bus terminus. Of course, all the original street signs were stolen. The barber shop belonged to some Mr. Bioletti. However, it seem that he didn't keep a picture of every head he had the pleasure to know.
