Master's Degree in Civil Engineering

Civil engineering provides sustainable solutions for integrating infrastructures within the environment and the society. Urban planning and their utilities, railway and highway network design, coastal engineering, risk assessment of floods and earthquakes, design and construction of bridges, tunnels, dams and ports or the integrated management of projects are the most common civil engineering activities.

The Master's Degree in Civil Engineering qualifies for practising the regulated profession of Civil Engineer. Our Master's Degree in Civil Engineering graduates have reached for years a training highly appreciated by society, combining technical rigour with the development of creativity, interdisciplinarity and respect for the environment.

The Master's Degree in Civil Engineering comprises 120 ECTS during 2 academic years, covering courses of scientific extension, specific technology in Civil Engineering and the specialisation in some specific field of the profession (urban engineering, structural engineering, land planning, transportation planning, environmental engineering, port engineering, project management ...).

This master's degree program fully meets the requirements of Order CIN/309/2009 of 9 February 2009, and therefore qualifies the graduate to practise the profession of Civil Engineer. Those who wish to exercise this regulated profession, in accordance with current legislation, must be in possession of the corresponding official master's degree.

Eligible candidates must be in possession of an official university degree that qualifies them for the profession of Technical Engineer in Public Works.

The UPV School of Civil Engineering offers two degrees that meet this requirement: the Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (degree of reference) and the Bachelor's Degree in Public Works Engineering.

The programme also admits graduates of any degree course, although the student may be required to sit additional courses as a prerequisite, where this is deemed necessary.
