Visitas al campus escultórico

Introduction 

At its three campuses (Alcoy, Gandia and Vera), the Universitat Politècnica de València has an ample collection of artworks that have been placed in different buildings. This heritage grows every year through the acquisition of new assets in the form of paintings, sculptures and installations. The Vera campus site currently hosts one of the best open-air sculpture collections in the Valencian Community, made up of works and installations by over 60 artists of national and international renown.



Objectives 

Visits to the sculpture collection are organised by the Cultural Management Department of the Vice-rectorate for Students and Culture of the Universitat Politècnica de València. This initiative aims to fulfil three main objectives:


  • Create awareness about our University's sculpture collection.
  • Contribute to an increase in number of exhibitions and cultural activities in the city of Valencia.
  • Allow youngsters to get a first taste of university life.


Programme 

The visit lasts approximately two and a half to three hours. It is scheduled to begin at 9am, though it is possible to delay the start, as the case may be, to 10am.


This initiative is targeted at groups of secondary school students, accompanied by their teacher. The complete visit is as follows:


  • Reception of groups in the Rectorate building
  • Transfer to Student House
  • Projection of audio-visual material: - Getting to know the UPV - 3D tour of the campus - LipDub (group music video) made by UPV students
  • Breakfast
  • Tour of the campus: - University buildings and points of interest: sporting facilities, agora, library ...
    - UPV sculpture collection: distribution of information material and seeing some of the most important sculptures (Alberto Sánchez, Jorge Oteiza, Pablo Serrano, Eusebio Sempere, Antonio Martín Chirino, Gerardo Rueda, Manuel Hernández Mompó, Adolfo Schlosser, Miquel Navarro, etc.) - Exhibition halls


Dates 

Visits can be organised in the morning, however in special cases this timing can be modified. Visits are organised daily from Monday to Friday from September to June, that is, during the academic year.




How to participate 

Any secondary educational institution wishing to visit the sculpture park must make a request by email or by telephone.
