Educational and Psychological Guidance Centre (GOPU)

What is this?

For some time now, the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has been concerned about providing students academic training together with personal development. In light of the current university context within the framework of the European Higher Education Area, this concept is now, if this can be possible, of even greater importance. The University's Educational and Psychological Guidance Centre (GOPU) reflects the need to offer students a holistic education.

What is the GOPU?

For some time now, the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has been concerned about providing students academic training together with personal development.

In light of the current university context within the framework of the European Higher Education Area, this concept is now, if this can be possible, of even greater importance. The University's Educational and Psychological Guidance Centre (GOPU) reflects the need to offer students a holistic education.

The Educational and Psychological Guidance Centre is a service that offers individual and group counselling sessions according to the needs of the UPV student body.

What is its aim?

Its aim is to contribute to the academic and personal development of students in a space that differs from the classroom, addressing the needs of students and thus optimising academic performance.

How does it work?

Assistance is provided through fixed personal interviews that must be scheduled beforehand, to allow for the student's personal and academic progress to be monitored.

What areas are covered?

  • Individual counselling
We help you to improve your intellectual work techniques, train you in study methods for university, prepare you for exams, help you to improve your academic performance, provide academic counselling for decision-making, etc. Furthermore, we also provide you with the necessary resources to be able to keep anxiety in check and manage stress, overcome social inhibitions, improve self-esteem, and most definitely feel good.
  • Support materials
It is possible to consult a range of documents consisting of books, magazines and audio-visual material related to psychological and educational topics, which can be freely borrowed by the university community. Furthermore, we publish material on educational and psychological support on the website of the Institute for Educational Sciences (ICE).
  • Training
As a student at the UPV, we offer you a wide and varied range of training programmes in the form of short workshops that are organised in two calls during the academic year. The first is in October-November and the second is in March-April. These workshops can be validated for free-choice credits.
