UPV

Requirements for exchange students

UPV will only accept applications approved by a partner university under one of the current student exchange programmes (Erasmus or other).

If you have been appointed by your home university to study at UPV within an exchange programme, the first thing you should do is look through UPV academic programmes and agreements, and select which programme and school fits your needs best. Exchange students are allowed to take subjects from different study programmes (degrees). If you are taking subjects from more than one study programme, you will be assigned to the school where you are taking the most subjects from.

After that you must complete the application form which is available on the OPII webpage añadir link a la web de la OPII. Please bear in mind that your application will not be fully processed until you confirm this. To do so, you have to complete all the requested data clearly stating the subjects you would like to register for at UPV. Please be aware that admission to a given subject cannot be guaranteed, as this depends on subject availability at the moment of enrolment.

Once you have confirmed your on-line application, you will be able to download and print it. Then, you and your home institution co-ordinator have to sign the application form and send it to us by post, together with a transcript of records and any additional documentation that your assigned UPV School might request. If any additional documentation were necessary it would be explicitly stated on the application webpage.

Upon receiving your signed printed application, it will be reviewed for acceptance according to both administrative and academic criteria by the School you have applied for. Please note that your application may be transferred to a UPV School other than the one you have applied for if it academically advisable. UPV will inform you and your co-ordinator of your acceptance. Upon acceptance you should make all the necessary arrangements to travel to Spain. Should you need an official letter of acceptance (i.e. to apply for a visa,..) UPV will be happy to send it to you upon request.

You should arrive at the University about 10 days before the beginning of the term, in order to have enough time to settle down in a new city, look for accommodation, and enrol for your courses. The very first thing you should do on arrival is to come to the International Exchange Programmes Office (OPII) Link al plano de la UPV (Monday to Friday between 11:30 and 13:30), where you will be given an information package and a brief orientation.

The next step is for you to go to the International Office at the School or Faculty where you have been registered. They will provide you with a UPV internet account and a temporary UPV identification card. After registration you are allowed a few days to confirm or change the subjects you wish to study at UPV. Please note that you will not be fully registered until you complete this process.

At the end of your exchange period at UPV you have to visit the International Office at your School or Faculty, where you will be given a "duration of stay certificate" and a transcript of records. If you are leaving before the transcript is available, it will be posted to your home institution co-ordinator.

Please remember that the OPII webpage will always show the current status of your exchange period, and it is also the place to check for additional services relating to your study programme (mentor student, Spanish tuition, etc.).
