U-Ranking 2022

The UPV offers the best teaching in Spain and is the 4th best university in the whole country

[ 23/06/2022 ]

The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) is the fourth-best university in Spain and offers the best teaching in the university system in the whole country.

This is attested to by the tenth edition of the U-Ranking, which ranks the national university system according to the results of the universities' teaching, research, and innovation activities.

In its most recent update, made public this morning, the ranking prepared by the BBVA Foundation and the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (IVIE) places the UPV in fourth place in the general classification, tied with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and as the only alternative to the Madrid-Barcelona axis present in the national top 9.

Top 10 in all rankings

In addition to all this, the U-Ranking recognises the UPV as a national top 10 in all the classifications carried out, in addition to being the 4th best in Spain overall, where it is number 1 in teaching and 8th in research and innovation; it is 9th in terms of overall volume, being 7th in education and 9th in research and innovation in this second area.

98% of the Spanish university system analysed

In total, U-Ranking analyses 72 public and private universities and examines more than 3,500 undergraduate and double degrees, thus covering 98% of the Spanish university system in terms of the number of undergraduate students.

The index is constructed from 20 indicators grouped into two dimensions (teaching and research and innovation) and includes universities with information on at least 18 of these 20 indicators. The data used come from public information systems and statistics.

To evaluate the universities' teaching, research, and innovation activity, four areas are considered in each of these significant dimensions: resources, production, quality and internationalisation.

Endorsed by all top international rankings

This outstanding result joins those obtained by the UPV in all the top international university rankings: ARWU (popularly known as the Shanghai ranking), QS and THE.

Not surprisingly, in its most recent edition, Times Higher Education (THE) recognises the UPV as one of the 300 universities with the most significant social and economic impact in the world and includes it in the top 100 in educational quality, innovation and infrastructures, and responsible production and consumption.

For its part, and top 10 nationally and number 1 in the Valencian Community. Likewise, in its latest ranking by subject, QS highlighted the UPV in a total of 19 disciplines, ranking it as the best university in Spain and 41st in the world to study Agriculture and Forestry Sciences and placing it in the top 150 worldwide up to 7 subjects.

Finally, it is worth noting that ARWU, considered the most prestigious international ranking of universities, highlights the UPV as the best technical university in Spain and includes it, for the 17th consecutive year, in its global ranking of the 500 most important universities in the world.
