Campus of International Excellence: Campus Habitat 5U
Campus Habitat 5U, which received the Campus of International Excellence label in 2011, is a joint project of five public universities in Valencia - Universitat Jaume I de Castellón, Universitat de Valčncia, Universitat Politčcnica de Valčncia, Universidad de Alicante and Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche (Alicante).
The initiative addresses four areas of action: buildings and homes (in the habitat area), and planning and improvement of social space, both urban and rural (in the territory area). This explains the project motto: "Uniting excellence, improving habitat, reactivating well-being".
Campus Habitat 5U aims to drive and catalyse a process of smart, sustainable and integrated growth based on knowledge, innovation, creativity, resource efficiency, employability as well as social and territorial cohesion.
The main characteristics of Campus Habitat 5U are:
- Aggregation. It creates a campus in the Valencian Community that pools efforts and shares knowledge.
- Specialisation. It develops a unique project of excellence in Spain in the field of "Habitat and Territory".
- Interdisciplinary. It is a multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary campus, that is, it is based on the interaction of different economic sectors and multiple disciplines.
- International. The Campus creates visibility for the international dimension of teaching and research, attracts talent and consolidates the network of partnerships.
