OPENING: 28 September 2017 at 20:00 h.

For the first time in Valencia, the exhibition presents a wide selection of works by Javier Sáez Castán, 2016 National Illustration and Author Award, among other books and works, of the famous Animalario universal del Profesor Revillod (Professor Revillod's Universal Animalarium).

From a retrospective point of view, it presents a journey through different moments of his career through more than a hundred works (sketches, process material, finished works and books) that include three unpublished series of paper drawings and paintings made between1986 and 1987, underlining a turning point between the end of his training stage and the beginning of his professional career, between Alicante, Madrid and Valencia, which shows how the individual fantasy of the author appears and is shaping up in those years of uncertainty and La Movida (The Madrid Scene) between the look at the everyday and the narration of magical fiction.

In addition, in the centre of the room, a part of a new book in progress (from which the name of the exhibition is taken) is presented for the first time to the public, which transports spectators to the study-cabinet so that they can picture the illustrator at work; from the original idea to the sketches, to the tests, to the references and the archival material, but without revealing the history just yet.

Javier Saéz Castán (Huesca, 1964) is an author and illustrator of albums, comic books, novels and other "illustrated artefacts". Recognised internationally, his works have been translated into several languages, he shares his experience as an author in courses, workshops and conferences throughout Spain and Portugal, Europe and Latin America. He studied Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the UPV in the first half of the 80s, to which he returns periodically as lecturer of the Master's Degree in Illustration and Design. His books include Animalario universal del Profesor Revillod: fabuloso almanaque de la fauna mundial together with Miguel Murugarren (2003), La merienda del señor verde (2007), Pom… Pom… ¡Pompibol!
