The most characteristic hand-crafted product from Sagunt is the botijo, or water jug, popularly called the colx in a tall version, or the colxa in a shorter, squatter version. It is made from cork fashioned into cylindrical form, with the addition of richly adorned metal fittings, and was once used by travellers and farmers for keeping drinking water cool, although today they are generally for decorative purposes only.
