UPVNET2G con Linux

For configure the conexion under a Linux environment (in this tutorial, under Ubuntu 10.04) we need to have insalled Network Manager (installed by default in all Ubuntu distros) and follow a simple steps:

1. From the top menu bar select the networks icon.

2. From the menu that appears select UPVNET2G.

3. Complete the Wireless Network Authentication Required dialogue box as shown below.

  • Wireless security: use WPA & WPA2 enterprise

  • Authentication: use Protected EAP (PEAP)

  • Anonymous identity: empty

  • CA certificate: use Thawte_Premium_Server_CA.pem.

Click on the CA Certificate: widget to open a file browser window.-> Click File System in the Places column ->Double-click on etc in the right hand column ->Scroll down and double-click on ssl in the right hand column ->Double-click on certs in the right hand column ->Double-click on Thawte_Premium_Server_CA.pem

  • Inner authentication: use MSCHAPv2

  • Use your credentials with next sintaxis

  • UPV's personnel: usuario@upvnet.upv.es
  • Students: usuario@alumno.upv.es

4. Select Connect

Your computer will now be authenticated to the network, after that you should be able to access the internet. If you get an error saying that authentication has failed, double-check the above steps. If you are still unable to connect, then contact the Help Desk for assistance. All the settings you have made are stored in your computer and should not need re-entering each time you connect to the UPVNET2G network.
