READING ROOM

All materials are freely accessible with the exception of those which, either for protection purposes (CD-ROMs, DVDs, maps, etc.) or due to their age, are stored in the library’s office. You do not need to belong to the UPV community to be able to consult the library’s resources.

PoliBuscador (our catalogue) allows you to identify and find any resource available in the UPV libraries, whether digital or in physical format..

LOANS

To access the loan service, you must belong to the UPV community and show your UPV card or ID card.

The conditions for borrowing documents vary depending on the type of user and document (see table).

  • Standard length of loan is 15 days. There is also a 7-day loan period for journals and films;

  • You can borrow up to a maximum of 30 items;

  • A one-day use restriction will be imposed for each day’s delay in returning each document that you have borrowed.

Former Bachelor’s thesis cannot be loaned out; they are reference only and no photocopies can be made of them..

Professors and researchers can borrow books or other materials from the UPV libraries during an academic year. You must complete this request and hand it in at desk of the library to which the requested resources belong.

Inter Library Loan (ILL):

If the document that you are interested in is not part of the UPV libraries’ collection, you can submit an ILL request.

Laptop loans:

Service only available to students who are enrolled in the UPV. This is done in the Central Library and in the libraries on the Gandia and Alcoi campuses.

Loan renewals:

Standard loan items are automatically renewed 2 days before the due date, for 15-day periods, up to a maximum of 4 months..

Short loan items are automatically renewed 2 days before the due date, for 7-day periods, up to a maximum of 2 months.

Renewal is blocked if your loan has been requested by someone else or you have overdue items.

Reservations:

You can reserve up to a maximum of 25 documents. How to place a hold request:

  1. Sign into PoliBuscador
  2. Search the book you are interested in and click on Available in...
  3. Go to Get it > Request
  4. Choose a delivery location from the dropdown list of delivery / pick up locations.

When the reserved document has been processed, you will be sent a notification email. You then have two business days to collect it. If, when you receive the notification email, you are no longer interested in the document, you can cancel the reservation on PoliBuscador > My Requests > Cancel.

Information and reference services

The library’s staff will answer any questions and requests for information made in the library, by telephone or online (via email, the chat, or the Ask a Librarian form).

Additionally, the library offers the Appointment service, in which librarians help to meet more extensive or specialised information needs..

The library serves to provide training on information skills (searching for, using and managing information) in the form of various activities:

  • Participation in Reception Days

  • Training sessions on the library’s services or resources

  • Bespoke sessions upon request by the professors

DOCUMENT ADQUISITION SUGGESTIONS

All members of the UPV community can request the purchase of books. How to request a book purchase:

  1. Sign into PoliBuscador
  2. Click on the ellipsis [show more] on the top bar menu
  3. Choose the option Purchase Request.
  4. Fill out the form and submit

GROUP STUDY ROOMS

These rooms are intended for teamwork with colleagues. They are available for groups of minimum 2 students and can be booked at the Library desk.

INTERNET ACCESS

The library provides users with two computers with internet access, to allow them to consult digital information sources, database, e-journals, etc. Users from the UPV are allowed to check their email and use office applications on these computers..

The library also has a wireless network which allows users to connect with their own laptop computers with Wi-Fi cards or any wireless device that can connect in this way. For more information about connecting to the internet, see NFO ACCESS.
