Introduction

Traditionally, university degrees related to the construction sector have paid little attention to the area of management. However, for construction technicians it is essential to acquire management knowledge and skills since they are progressively taking on more managerial responsibilities as they gain experience and develop their career. Therefore, there is a demand for additional training in general construction management throughout the sector, including public developers (government), private developers (real estate and concessions), consulting engineering firms and construction companies. In addition, there is a need for training in the planning and operation of infrastructure, which is more focused on public developers. It should, however, be borne in mind that much of the future of the sector lies in concession contracts and the maintenance and upkeep of existing infrastructure.

Objectives

The programme explores knowledge related to the planning and management of projects, building works, infrastructure and companies in the construction sector.

The aim is to build a management knowledge base that will aid in developing a capacity to analyse the infrastructure and utilities environment. It also aims to: speed up adaptation to new environments, provide skills in leadership and human resource management and enable optimal decision-making in the context of the construction sector.

This master's degree provides advanced practical and professional training, with a global and multidisciplinary approach to civil engineering infrastructure. It also offers the option of a curricular itinerary for research training, as a basis for developing a doctoral thesis.
