The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) has become the central meeting point for companies, young students, and graduates on 17 and 18 May, celebrating the 21st edition of UPV Employment and Lifelong Learning Forum. The Vera campus of the UPV has been transformed with the presence of hundreds of young people who have visited the stands of more than 175 companies, such as Airbus, HP, Huawei and Ford, as well as international public employment institutions through the EURES network of Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark and Sweden.
This year, 1,400 jobs are offered, making this forum Spain’s leading university job fair. The interest has exceeded expectations because "we have been overwhelmed by the demand of companies that wanted to be in the Employment Forum; about 30 have been left out because they did not fit. Now we have to think, for next year, how we will do it, but I am very grateful to the companies and institutions that are here because they help a lot to the Valencian society", said the rector of the Universitat Politècnica de València, José E. Capilla, who has inaugurated the XXI Forum of Employment and Lifelong Learning.
The Forum is open from 10 am to 6 pm to the whole society, not only to members of the UPV. It is a unique opportunity to make yourself known through the delivery of CVs in a direct way, which will enhance networking and select the most suitable professional profiles.
Human Resources managers wanted to be present, such as the multinational Celestica and also Thomas Dalhem, CEO of PowerCo -the giant battery factory located in Sagunto-, who said that they are “looking for new talent because we are in the initial phase and now we need more profiles with management level experience".
The UPV Job Fair is now in its 21st year. It has established itself as a benchmark for finding job opportunities and internships thanks to its commitment to youth employment as one of the cornerstones of its SIRVE Strategic Plan.
Just over 700 students and graduates have prepared themselves for the active job search the previous week thanks to the interview simulations and CV reviews with Human Resources specialists organised by the UPV's Integrated Employment Service.
The UPV has been a pioneering university in this type of meeting that puts university talent in contact with the employment needs of companies.
